It’s important to us that we can make a positive contribution to the world. This notion is captured in Blue Turtles’ Vision and Mission, and explained in our About Us page. In order to make a positive impact, we adopt and adhere to certain policies:

Caring for our artisans

There is plenty of cheap jewellery available in the market, because the people responsible for making it see very little return for their efforts. In our commitment to the principle of ethical trade we pay our artisans fairly.

Additionally, we make a monthly contribution to an investment fund on their behalf, to help secure their futures. And finally, we take on the financial responsibility for their children’s schooling.

Financial support for various causes

We commit to donating a percentage of our annual sales to various causes. For example, in January 2010 we donated 10% of that month’s sales to CARE Australia’s Haiti Earthquake Appeal. Similarly, we’ve recently supported the Jodie O’Shea Orphanage in Bali with a financial contribution. To be kept up to date with the causes that we support, join our Mailing List.
