In the pre-industrialized world, fishermen and hunters would fashion their little canoes from a single tree. Dug-out canoes were truly an effort to make!

Today they are a rare occurrence, usually a collectible relic, but occasionally you’ll come across a dug-out still in use.

The Kayakara earrings were inspired by the humble but noble dug-out canoe. They feature a 7mm white freshwater pearl suspended from a fine silver chain, in an intriguing, boat-shaped sterling silver shell. The inside surface of the “canoe” has a subtly hammered texture to it, and a slightly matt finish.

These are a daring pair of earrings to wear – at 60 mm in length, they will be noticed.

To purchase a pair of Kayakara earrings, ask your stockist to order model number E-PR-PRL.

Testimonials

"Buying from Blue Turtles is always a pleasure - opening all those drawers at the Gift Fair to see the hidden treasures inside – because you know you’ll only see the good stuff. Each stone is chosen aesthetically, set with heavy silver and finished beautifully... you don’t get bumpy edges, join marks that haven’t been polished out, left over tarnished sections or stones hanging out the back of a setting. The attention to detail is obvious from the moment you look at any piece. It’s well priced, especially for the quality of the stones and the amount of silver used. You get prompt and efficient service, always with a smile!"
